procrastination

Have you ever wondered why we procrastinate so much?

Seriously. How much simpler and more efficient our lives would be if we didn't procrastinate. If we didn't leave things till the last minute. If we just sat down and finished our work without distraction.

I think God allows us to procrastinate to enjoy the little things in life. Even though we may be stressed out of our minds, procrastination gives us joy in knowing that there are better things in this world than school. That there is hope that our world isn't only as interesting as cell physiology.

Methods of procrastination that will make you happy :)

  1. Bake brownies (hehe Tiff): fat = happiness
  2. Blog on your blog: it's spreading the joy of procrastination. By thinking of things unrelated to studying, you destress and become just a little happier. Blogging also spreads the joy, like Christmas, giving = greatest joy.
  3. Read someone else's blog (like mine!): it kills so much time, and it keeps you informed about others' live or just of different topics of life. May spark interesting conversations that can lead to the building of friendships.
  4. Watch a TVB show: this is definitely mind numbing. The perfect way to not think about school. Just sit there and stare at your favourite TVB star. Bosco Wong? Kevin? Myolie? Linda Chung? RAYMOND LAM? mmmm. Chinese shows are the best when you don't want to think about anything. The story lines are so repetitive and retarded at times that if you actually think, you might kill yourself haha.
  5. Watch Gossip Girl: seriously, who doesn't want to watch a show about the elite teenagers of Manhattan, stalked by an unknown Gossip Girl, narrated by the beautiful Kristen Bell. Makes you hate rich kids, but makes you love them at the same time.
  6. Stare at your ceiling: and count the stucco. Make shapes with them. I remember in my parent's old room at our old house, I always did that and I found Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard every single time. It uses a lot of time though, beware.
  7. Draw a picture: release your artistic talents onto paper. you'll be surprised at what you can do under stress
  8. Sit in front of the tv with a bag of chips or ice cream: once again, fat = happiness and tv = mind numb
  9. Walk into your roommate's room and lie on her bed and make her procrastinate by sparking interesting conversations
  10. Stand at the doorway of your roommate's room with a fob sign and freeze in the same position, staring and watching her study: it throws her off big time. BUT if you do it too much, this becomes less effective
  11. Blast some old school music (BSB, Spice girls, whatever you fancy) and sing at the top of your lungs. Actions too please :)
  12. Christmas songs. Get ready for the season of love and Jesus .
  13. Pamper yourself. Hop into the shower and take a super long one. Come out and do a mask. It's always easier to study when you feel prettier.
  14. Stay home. Of course, even if you're procrastinating, you can't EXCESSIVELY procrastinate. It's better to stay home so that if you ever really FEEL like studying, you can.
  15. And finally. The ultimate source of procrastination: FACEBOOK. Need I explain more?

Mmm... procrastination. I mean how can you not find joy in the above things. If you didn't have stressful times in your life, those things wouldn't be as appealing. So thank God that we have the ability to procrastinate.

But remember, if you procrastinate, do it in moderation, because ultimately, school does matter, and marks do matter, at least right now.
